My Lord,

I have the honor to acquaint Your Lordship, that Mr. Andrew Shortrede, who brought an introduction from the Colonial Office, has commenced the Editorship of a weekly Paper in this Colony called the "China Mail," and from his connections and character, and the means at his disposal, warranted the expectation that he would prove a fitter subject of patronage than his predecessor.

I have made his Publication the Government-Gazette for this Colony, and stopped the subscription to the said
